When is the 2023 Fall and Spring GRE Exam Season?

In what timeframe should I take the GRE?

It is recommended that you take the GRE regardless of the type of applicant you are. Applicants can be divided into two categories:

Students: The GRE is best taken in the student's second to last year of college. Taking the GRE in your junior year is recommended if you want to study abroad immediately after graduating from college.

Executives and other Working Folks: If you're a working professional, you might not have much downtime to devote to GRE prep. Weekends and downtime are ideal for cramming. The taking of several practise exams is something that is recommended. Schedule your test for whenever you feel prepared to do so. Be mindful of when things need to be done.

To be taken in the Spring

The GRE must be taken at least 12 months before the programme start date in order to be considered for the Spring intake. That is, I need to have my GRE scores ready by February of 2022 if I want to enrol for the Spring 2023 semester.

The GRE should not be taken until after you have applied, so why the wait?

Generating a GRE scorecard takes around 2 weeks. Your verbal and numerical score will be revealed on the day of the exam. AWA scores, however, are included in the final grade report. This official scorecard from ETS must be submitted as part of your application.

Colleges and universities will only accept official test scores sent through ETS. It can take anywhere from five days up to three weeks for ETS to deliver your official test scores to your chosen university. Additionally, it may take the university up to a week to show that they have received your score.

November and December are when a lot of important due dates fall. It is crucial to have your scores prepared and submitted to the university on time. If the application deadline is further in the future, don't worry about applying early.

Time is also required for taking the TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE and for preparing for it. Creating reports and sending them off to colleges also takes 2 weeks.

When deciding when to take the GRE, what is the most significant hurdle I could face?

After settling on a time and date to take the GRE, you might run into trouble reserving your first-choice testing location and examination window. Particularly around the time of applications, it can be challenging to secure a desired centre on a desired date. That's why you need to reserve your exam date and location early.

If, as the date of your GRE draws near, you realise that you are not prepared to take the test, you can reschedule your test date by paying a fee of $50, or an additional $190 if you reschedule within 3 days of the exam date.

Is the last Saturday of the month a better time to take the GRE?

It's a common misconception that the test will be easier or more repetitive at the end of the month. This is completely false. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is an adaptive test that creates questions based on your answers. The time of the month has nothing to do with the possibility of repeated questions. You got lucky.

As a result, you shouldn't schedule your exam based on any "facts" other than whether or not you're actually prepared for it. On the other hand, don't forget about your course's due dates!
