Colleges

More than 130 universities and colleges can be found across Canada. They put more emphasis on vocational and technical training.
Graduates of a college or university are awarded a diploma, not a degree, for their efforts. After completing their Bachelor's degrees, international students can apply to universities in Canada for one- or two-year postgraduate diploma programmes. Seneca College, Centennial College, and Bow Valley College are just a few of the more than one hundred Canadian universities and colleges that are part of Leap Scholar's extensive network of partners.
To further demonstrate the adaptability of the Canadian education system, after completing one postgraduate diploma, students have the option of pursuing a second one-year diploma.
The fees at colleges are generally lower than \sthat of universities in Canada. Further, neither a Statement of Purpose (SoP) nor Letters of Recommendation (LOR) are required when applying to universities. Foreign students flock to Canada to participate in the postgraduate diploma programme.

Canada's academic entry requirements

A student from India who wishes to enrol in a Bachelor's degree programme in Canada must first complete the equivalent of the 12th grade in India. Each school in Canada determines its own admissions requirements and evaluates each applicant based on his or her specific set of skills and experiences. The main factors that the admissions committee focuses on are past academic \sperformance and proficiency in English. It's possible that if you want to major in a specific field like engineering, you'll need to have taken specific classes in high school. Admission requirements can differ depending on whether you're applying to a Master's degree programme or a Postgraduate Diploma programme. To enrol in a Master's programme, you need to have completed at least 16 years of schooling, and for either programme, high scores on the International English Language Testing System are required. Leap Scholar helps students who want to study in Canada find the best university or college for their individual circumstances.
The entry requirements for a Bachelor's degree programme may differ from those of a Master's degree programme or a Diploma.

Language Proficiency Requirements

Students need to take an English proficiency exam like IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo to be admitted to university or college and qualify for a student visa.
However, in light of the recent Covid-19 pandemic, a number of Canadian universities and colleges have made an exception and are now offering conditional admission based on the results of the Duolingo test. The cost to take this English proficiency exam is only $49, and you'll have your results in just 2 days. Finding out which schools recognise Duolingo tests and how to apply to them is made easier with the help of Dexter's Portal.

Work while studying in Canada

Canada has extremely student-friendly work policies. Working while you’re studying not only gives \syou an additional income, it also gives you exposure to Canadian corporate life and adds to your \sprofessional growth. Students from outside the country who are enrolled in an education programme at a DLI in Canada are eligible to obtain a work permit.
Students can work part-time for up to 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions, and \sfull-time in the holidays such as summer break, Christmas holidays etc. It is possible for students to find work both on and off campus, in the form of internships, co-ops, and practicums.

On-campus Employment

International students can work on-campus in any of the various buildings and offices on their university/college premises.

Off-campus jobs

Students can join the Canadian workforce as part-time employees, in keeping with the rules of their study permit.

Co-op programs and internships

Co-op and internship programmes are common in Canada and are a required part of many degree programmes there. In this way, students can get real-world experience in their field of study. Most co-op programmes provide monetary compensation for participants, while internships may or may not do so.

Options for Long-Term Residence Following Graduation

Many international students who come to Canada to attend university end up deciding to stay there after graduation. Many international students can become permanent residents of Canada because of the country's welcoming immigration policies (PR).
A Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) for one year is available to international students who have completed a Postgraduate Diploma programme in Canada. They can extend their permit by one more year by enrolling in a second year of the Postgraduate Diploma programme. Graduates of a two-year programme are granted a three-year work permit after graduation. Students who have graduated from a programme that lasted more than 2 years are also eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit valid for 3 years.

Also, depending on one's skills, one's job, and a few other factors, after finishing PGWP one may be eligible for Permanent Residency. International students who study in Canada can earn up to 30 points in the federal government's Express Entry system, which is used to determine who gets permanent resident status in Canada.
